Esto ha sido debido principalmente a las grandes expectativas terap\u00e9uticas que podr\u00edan proporcionar los inhibidores de este proceso, que actuar\u00edan potenciando la acci\u00f3n de los endocannabionoides sobre sus receptores. El principal objetivo de la presente tesis doctoral ha sido la caracterizaci\u00f3n y evaluaci\u00f3n bioqu\u00edmica, farmacol\u00f3gica y terap\u00e9utica del inhibidor de la recaptaci\u00f3n de endocannabinoides ucm707. Con este tipo de compuestos es posible minimizar los efectos indeseados asociados a la activaci\u00f3n directa de los receptores cb1 por los agonistas cl\u00e1sicos cannabionoides, ya que, los niveles de endocannabionoides se mantendr\u00edan dentro de un rango de valores que eliminar\u00eda los efectos psicoactivos. Los resultados obtenidos indican que el ucm707 contin\u00faa siendo el inhibidor de la recaptaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s potente y selectivo hasta la fecha, y se corresponde con la elevada potencia observada en ensayos in vivo, al intensificar los efectos producidos por una dosis subefectiva de anandamida. Tambi\u00e9n se ha estudiado la capacidad del compuesto para modular los niveles de endocannabionoides y de neurotransmisores en el cerebro. Hemos analizado la utilidad del ucm707 en diversos modelos de enfermedades neurodegenerativas. ucm707 no ejerce neuroprotecci\u00f3n en modelos de las enfermedades de parkinson y de huntington. Sin embargo, tiene importantes beneficios terap\u00e9uticos al mejorar las disfunciones motoras t\u00edpicas de las etapas tempranas de la enfermedad de huntington.  en la esclerosis m\u00faltiple, ucm707 no disminuye la progresi\u00f3n de la enfermedad pero tiene un importante efecto antiesp\u00e1stico en modelso animales de la enfermedad. hemos analizado tambi\u00e9n como   este compuesto es
