Para \u00e9l estos cuatro ejes son los que establecen la esencia del modo de ser de un pueblo. Propone el estudio de lo particular ante una raz\u00f3n globalizadora que puede servir de liquidaci\u00f3n nacional de otras posturas que no caben en el progreso dirigido por ese concepto de raz\u00f3n. la \u00fanica manera que tenemos para estudiar la historia de un pueblo, su m\u00e1s profundo sentido, es a trav\u00e9s de su lengua. Herder tuvo la genial intuici\u00f3n de poner en primer plano la importancia del lenguaje, particularmente el materno. En la lengua materna, en la lengua en donde crecemos bajo una determinada tradici\u00f3n, no escuchamos formulas geom\u00e9tricas abstractas sino el sonido de las palabras en tanto metamorfosis viva de la circunstancia geogr\u00e1fica de cada cultura.     al comparar la naci\u00f3n con una esfera, al igual que con una planta, se\u00f1ala una idea de identidad basada no en la constituci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica democr\u00e1tica ilustrada a la manera de voltaire, rousseau o kant, sino en la homogeneizaci\u00f3n interna de una naci\u00f3n o pueblo que sustancialmente tiene el centro de gravedad en s\u00ed mismo. La idea de naci\u00f3n-esfera-m\u00f3nada acaba encerrando sobre s\u00ed misma la identidad de se pueblo, con lo que nos cuenta trabajo enteder la tensi\u00f3n y ambig\u00ed\u00bcedad en la que se coloca herder al no tener m\u00e1s remedio que infravalorar en la pr\u00e1ctica, que no en la teor\u00eda, las relaciones entre las naciones-sustancia.     herder comienza a desarrollar una teor\u00eda de la cultura en la que las diferencias son tan arriesgadas y abismales que no permiten ser trasplantadas a ning\u00fan otro lugar que no sea su propio suelo.
