En los cultivos agr\u00edcolas, y con objeto de aumentar el rendimiento de las cosechas, se ha producido una abuso de los abonos nitrogenados.  sin embargo, este abuso ha conducido a problemas medioambientales y de salud animal derivados de los efectos indeseables del nitrato. El nitrato no s\u00f3lo es un nutriente esencial sino que suministra una se\u00f1al positiva para la expresi\u00f3n \u00f3ptima de los genes implicados en su propia asimilaci\u00f3n, otras rutas metab\u00f3licas y adem\u00e1s es una se\u00f1al para procesos de diferenciaci\u00f3n y crecimiento celular. Entender los mecanismos que subyacen a la se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n positiva por nitrato es clave y puede permitir mejorar la relaci\u00f3n crecimiento con poco nitr\u00f3geno.     el objetivo de esta tesis doctoral fue profundizar en los mecanismos de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n positiva dela ruta de asimilaci\u00f3n de nitrato en algas y plantas, utilizando como organismo modelos chlamydomonas y arabidopsis, respectivamente.     los principales resultados obtenidos se resumen a continuaci\u00f3n:     1,- se ha caracterizado nit2 de chlamydomonas rinhardti. Indicando que nit2 es una prote\u00edna de uni\u00f3n a dna con motivos rwp-rk, cremallera de lecuina y gaf. nit2 es el \u00fanico gen regulador-esencial para la asimilaci\u00f3n de nitrato de chlamydomonas. Si bien, otros genes del locus (5n2) parecen corregular, junto a nit2 una se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n \u00f3ptima por nitrato.     2,- se ha propuesto un mecanismo de regulaci\u00f3n en el gen nit2 estar\u00eda inactivo en el citoplasma pero que requiere nitrato intracelular para su activaci\u00f3n y regulaci\u00f3n de la expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica.
