La caracterizaci\u00f3n del lixiviado dio como resultado un efluente con unas propiedades t\u00edpicas de lo que com\u00fanmente se conoce como lixiviado estabilizado. En concreto, el lixiviado del vertedero de badajoz present\u00f3 valores de demanda qu\u00edmica de ox\u00edgeno en el intervalo aproximado de 3 a 10 g l-1, ph en el rango 8.0 &#8211; 9.0 y demanda biol\u00f3gica de ox\u00edgeno al cabo de cinco d\u00edas en las proximidades de 0.5 g l-1. Los tratamientos a los que fueron sometidos los lixiviados consistieron b\u00e1sicamente en:     * adsorci\u00f3n sobre carbones activos comerciales (norit r.O. 0.8, picacarb 1240 y chemviron aq40). El an\u00e1lisis de las isotermas obtenidas con estos absorbentes indicaron un proceso de adsorci\u00f3n ligeramente favorable en el caso de norit r.I. 0.8 y desfavorable para el resto de carbones usados. la cin\u00e9tica de adsorci\u00f3n fue modelada de forma aceptable mediante la ecuaci\u00f3n modificada de lagergren.     * ozonaci\u00f3n. Los lixiviados fueron sometidos a la acci\u00f3n del ozono, obteni\u00e9ndose reducciones moderadas de los par\u00e1metros m\u00e1s importantes de contaminaci\u00f3n. As\u00ed, al cabo de 60 minutos de ozonaci\u00f3n se consiguieron reducciones de aproximadamente un 30% de dqo al aplicar un caudal de 50 l h-1 de gas con concentraci\u00f3n de ozono 1.5 mm. El \u00f3ptimo de biodegradabilidad el efluente se consegu\u00eda al cabo de una hora de reacci\u00f3n, no siendo suficiente, sin embargo, el aumento de biodegradabilidad experimentado.     * ozonaci\u00f3n &#8211; adsorci\u00f3n sobre carb\u00f3n activo.  El lixiviado proveniente de la pre-ozonaci\u00f3n fue posteriormente tratado con carb\u00f3n activo norit 0.8. Una concentraci\u00f3n de 30 g l-1 de adsorbente fue capaz de reducir la dqo final hasta valores de 0.3 g l-1 en aproximadamente 2 horas de contacto.     * reactivo fenton.
