Pero el cis-ddp presenta una serie de limitaciones como son su escasa solubilidad, rango de acci\u00f3n limitado, efectos t\u00f3xicos y resistencia adquirida. Por estos motivos siguen buscando nuevos complejos de platino que consigan superar dichas barreras. En 1992 fueron publicados varios complejos de platino con geometr\u00eda trans que presentaban actividad citotoxica incluso en c\u00e9lulas tumorales resistentes al cisplatino. El objetivo de esta tesis doctoral han sido la sintesis y caracterizaci\u00f3n de nuevos complejos de platino de geometr\u00eda trans para realizar estudios de actividad citot\u00f3xica, en c\u00e1lulas tumorales y no tumorales, y establecer nuevas relaciones estructura actividad en funci\u00f3n del tama\u00f1o de los ligandos y sus carcter\u00edsticas lipof\u00edlicas o hidrof\u00edlicas.
