Se trata de un proceso activo, en el cual el receptor reconoce el citrato y en el que muy probablemente se encuentra implicado un proceso de reduccion. Todas las cepas estudiadas poseen actividades hierro-reductasa en todas las fracciones celulares (membranas, periplasma y citoplasma). Ademas todas ellas utilizan hemina y hemoglobina como fuentes de hierro, en un proceso que implica la union de estos compuestos a la superficie celular de forma constitutiva. Las proteinas responsables de esta union han sido aisladas mediante cromatografia de afinidad en cepas de ambos serotipos. La capacidad de utilizar los grupos hemo como fuentes de hierro esta codificada, en las cepas del serotipo 01, por un fragmento de dna cromosomico de 21,5 kb.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
