Las ventajas obtenidas con su utilizaci\u00f3n, principalmente mayor econom\u00eda y redundancia estructural, han sido ya extensamente documentadas. Pero este tipo de uniones no se emplean en la pr\u00e1ctica habitual, uno de los motivos principales es que no existen   m\u00e9todos de dise\u00f1o, modelos ni herramientas adecuados. En esta tesis se presenta un m\u00e9todo de dise\u00f1o apropiado para las uniones semirr\u00edgidas. El m\u00e9todo propuesto permite no s\u00f3lo optimizar los perfiles estructurales, sino tambi\u00e9n la uni\u00f3n, de modo que se ajuste a los valores te\u00f3ricos \u00f3ptimos. Se aportan m\u00e9todos de predise\u00f1o para uniones de chapa de testa extend\u00edda. La tesis presenta tambi\u00e9n el comportamiento semirr\u00edgido de uniones tridimensionales. Para ello se desarroll\u00f3 un programa experimental en la universidad de navarra, espa\u00f1a. Los ensayos realizados proporcionan un primer acercamiento al comportamiento de estas uniones cuando se aplica carga en ambos ejes (carga tridimensional). Se ha desarrollado y verificado un nuevo componente para placas sujetas lateralmente sometidas a flexi\u00f3n (aplica en la tesis al alma del pilar y a la chapa adicional a flexi\u00f3n). El componente se ha aplicado satisfactoriamente al an\u00e1lisis de uniones en el eje menor. Adem\u00e1s, se han desarrollado modelos el\u00e1sticos completos para el an\u00e1lisis de uniones tridimensionales en los ejes mayor y menor. La formulaci\u00f3n propuesta incluye los efectos de rigidizaci\u00f3n adicional de cada componente debidos a la carga en ambos ejes.  the use of semi-rigid joints is   among the novel ti es incorporated in eurocode 3. The benefits of semi-rigid joints are extensively documented, but they are not real1 y used much   in practice. There isa lack of appropriate design methods, models and tools. In this thesis a design method suitable for semi-rigid joints is introduced. The proposed method allows to opti mize not only the size of the structural profiles, but also the joint design to match the optimal theoretical val\u00faes. Pre-design methods for semi-rigid extended end-plate joints are also provided   to easily check the feasibility and suitability of a particular connection design.The thesis has also introduced the semi-rigid behaviour of three-dimensional joints. An experimental investigation of statically loaded extended end-plate connections in both major and minor column axis was undertaken at the university of navarra, spain. The aim was to provide insight into the behaviour of these joints when \u00edoading is applied to both axes (three-dimensional \u00edoading). A new component for laterally supported plates in bending (applied to the column web and the additional p\u00edate in bending) is presented and applied to minor axis joints. Also, complete el\u00ed\u00a0stic models for both major- and minor-axis three-dimensional joints are developed.
