El trabajo realizado persigue el incremento del r\u00e9gimen binario transportado por la red de manera eficiente, es decir, incrementando la eficiencia espectral del sistema (bit\/s\/hz), e introduciendo t\u00e9cnicas de monitorizaci\u00f3n a fin de soslayar las degradaciones de la transmisi\u00f3n sobre fibra \u00f3ptica. De esta manera se incrementa la capacidad de la red sin la necesidad de desplegar nuevas fibras.  esta tesis doctoral desarrolla dos objetivos principales: primero la propuesta, an\u00e1lisis y demostraci\u00f3n experimental de una nueva modulaci\u00f3n de alta eficiencia espectral, y segundo la implementaci\u00f3n de mecanismos de control en un enlace \u00f3ptico a fin de soslayar posibles degradaciones en la transmisi\u00f3n.  estos objetivos son abordados mediante t\u00e9cnicas procesamiento en el dominio \u00f3ptico, con la ventaja de no estar limitados en ancho de banda, permitiendo su escalabilidad a mayores regimenes binarios.   en particular, se estudia y se demuestra la viabilidad t\u00e9cnica de una nueva modulaciones para redes dwdm de alta eficiencia espectral, basada en la ortogonalidad entre las portadoras, que denominamos ortogonal-wdm (owdm). As\u00ed mismo se desarrollan dos nuevas t\u00e9cnicas de monitorizaci\u00f3n, basadas en transformadores \u00f3pticos de fourier aplicados a: (1) la monitorizaci\u00f3n de diafon\u00eda lineal y no-lineal entre canales dwdm y (2) la dispersi\u00f3n por polarizaci\u00f3n (pmd, polarization mode dispersion) adecuadas para enlaces \u00f3pticos con se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n a 160
