Estos xilo-oligosac\u00e1ridos tienen potencial aplicaci\u00f3n en la industria alimentaria y farmac\u00e9utica. los materiales elegidos son la c\u00e1scara de almendra, hueso de oliva, marlos de ma\u00edz, c\u00e1scara de arroz, y la paja de trigo y de cebada. Para la producci\u00f3n de estos xilo-oligosac\u00e1ridos, se ha estudiado la reacci\u00f3n de autohidr\u00f3lisis (s\u00f3lido + agua) a diferentes temperaturas y tiempos de reacci\u00f3n evaluando el efecto de dichos par\u00e1metros en las caracter\u00edsticas de los xilo-oligosac\u00e1ridos obtenidos.  la estructura qu\u00edmica de los mismos fue analizada usando diferentes t\u00e9cnicas, tales como rmn, cromatograf\u00eda, etc., Encontr\u00e1ndose que b\u00e1sicamente es la misma para todos los residuos agr\u00edcolas estudiados, siendo en todos los casos del tipo 4-o-metil-glucuronoxilano parcialmente acetilado, con diferentes grados de sustituci\u00f3n dependiendo de la especie de origen. La reacci\u00f3n de autohidr\u00f3lisis genera, adem\u00e1s de los olig\u00f3meros de inter\u00e9s, otros derivados tales como mon\u00f3meros, furfural e hydroxymethylfurfural (hmf), \u00e1cidos fen\u00f3licos, ur\u00f3nicos y fer\u00falicos y otros productos de degradaci\u00f3n. Debido a esto, se evaluaron diversos m\u00e9todos de purificaci\u00f3n con el objetivo de eliminar el material de bajo peso molecular, y\/o separar en fracciones de diferente peso molecular. Para ello se estudiaron tres m\u00e9todos de separaci\u00f3n, la precipitaci\u00f3n con un no solvente, la separaci\u00f3n por ultrafiltraci\u00f3n con membranas polim\u00e9ricas, y la adsorci\u00f3n en carbones activados. Se est\u00e1 evaluando la posible utilizaci\u00f3n de un reactor enzim\u00e1tico de membrana para la producci\u00f3n y separaci\u00f3n de xilo-oligosac\u00e1ridos de bajo peso molecular en un solo
