Los resultados obtenidos indican que, en condiciones basales, el flujo de arginina en la membrana plasm\u00e1tica de estos macr\u00f3fagos primarios ocurre b\u00e1sicamente a trav\u00e9s del sistema de transporte y +l (mayor 75%), con una peque\u00f1a contribuci\u00f3n del sistema y+ (mayor10%). La actividad y +l puede ser debida a y+lat y y+lat-2. El mrna de y+lat1 es el m\u00e1s abundante de todos los correspondientes a transportadores de arginina. La actividad del sistema y+ se debe a la expresi\u00f3n de cat-1 con contribuci\u00f3n de cat-2 dependiente de la cepa de animales utilizada para el estudio. Las actividades de los sistemas b0,+ y b0,+ no est\u00e1n presentes en estos macr\u00f3fagos.     el tratamiento de macr\u00f3fagos primarios con est\u00edmulos de activaci\u00f3n cl\u00e1sica y alternativa induce un considerable incremento del transporte mediado por el sistema y+. E cambio, la proliferaci\u00f3n produce \u00fanicamente un modesto incremento de actividad y+. Para la activaci\u00f3n, pero no para la proliferaci\u00f3n, este incremento est\u00e1 mediado por cat-2b. De hecho, la falta de cat-2 compromete el transporte y metabolismo de arginina inducido por la activaci\u00f3n cl\u00e1sica y alternativa sin comprometer la proliferaci\u00f3n. el metabolismo de arginina en macr\u00f3fago detectivos para cta-2 es una respuesta del macr\u00f3fago a situaciones de alta demanda de arginina.     en respuesta al tratamiento con gm-csf los macr\u00f3fagos primarios incrementa el transporte de arginina trav\u00e9s de cata-2b y su metabolismo a por el enzima arginasa i. En ausencia de cata-2 existe una compensaci\u00f3n parcial por cat-1 del efecto de gm*-csf.     en macr\u00f3fagos defectivos para y+lat-1 no est\u00e1 comprometido el transporte y metabolismo de arginina en respuesta a la activaci\u00f3n o tratamiento con gm-csf.
