Existe una hip\u00f3tesis que presupone que los mecanismos que operan durante el desarrollo podr\u00edan ser reactivados y efectivos  en condiciones de da\u00f1o traum\u00e1tico o degenerativo del tejido. el tipo de muerte celular que ocurre durante el desarrollado el sistema nervioso, m\u00e1s concretamente de la reina neural, sucede de una forma fisiol\u00f3gica y en nuestro laboratorio se ha visto el papel anti-apoptotico que ejerce la proinsulina sobre la muerte natural en el desarrollo. en esta tesis doctoral se ha encontrado expresi\u00f3n de proinsulina durante el desarrollo dela retina neural de rat\u00f3n, as\u00ed como en la retina adulta normal y la que sufre un de proceso degenerativo. el principal objetivo de esta tesis doctoral era testar el efecto neuroprotector de la proinsulina sobre las enfermedades heredo-degenerativas de la retina. Para este estudio se ha seleccionado los modelos de rat\u00f3n con retinosis pigementaria rd1 y rd10, en los que los bastones de la retina degeneran por un proceso de muerte celular programada. El aporte de proinsulina ex\u00f3gena a la retina que sufre degeneraci\u00f3n se realiz\u00f3 en cultivos de explantes de estas, tambi\u00e9n con inyecciones subcut\u00e1neas diarias a lo largo de la degeneraci\u00f3n y con inyecciones puntuales intrav\u00edtreas. Con ninguno de estos abordajes se consigui\u00f3 ver un efecto neuroprotector de la proinsulina sobre la degeneraci\u00f3n de bastones.  cuando el aporte de proinsulina se realizo de forma end\u00f3gena y constitutiva, a trav\u00e9s de la generaci\u00f3n de ratones rd10 y productores de proinsulina humana en el m\u00fasculo estriado, se pudo observar un efecto atenuador de la
