Al mismo tiempo se produce sintesis de xilanos acidos y perdida de xiloglucano. En la pulpa aparece una mayor implicacion de las hemicelulosas en el proceso de maduracion, con sintesis de xilanos y arabinanos, siendo el efecto mas importante la depolimerizacion y descenso en el contenido en xiloglucano al inicio del proceso. Al final de la maduracion, se producen cambios que afectan fundamentalmente a las pectinas de la pared celular en ambos tejidos, cesando el aporte de hemicelulosas, lo que favorece la maduracion.
