Una vez situada este contexto se procede a analizar las propiedades de propagaci\u00f3n de luz, obteniendo la ecuaci\u00f3n general para la trayectoria del rayo. Dicha ecuaci\u00f3n permite establecer una clasificaci\u00f3n de los rayos como ligados, refractantes y t\u00fanel. A continuaci\u00f3n se caracterizan los par\u00e1metros de trayectoria de rayos que permiten evaluar las propiedades de transmisi\u00f3n de la fibra. Asimismo, se caracteriza la capacidad de aceptaci\u00f3n de la luz de las fibras \u00f3pticas de \u00edndice multi-escal\u00f3n.     a continuaci\u00f3n, se estudian las p\u00e9rdidas de acoplamiento extr\u00ednsecas e intr\u00ednsecas. En primer lugar se derivan las expresiones anal\u00edticas que permiten calcular las p\u00e9rdidas de acoplamiento debidas a los tres tipos fundamentales de desalineamientos mec\u00e1nicos. Posteriormente, se llevan a cabo diversas medidas experimentales y se realizan numerosas simulaciones num\u00e9ricas para corroborar la validez de los resultados te\u00f3ricos obtenidos, y con el fin de identificar qu\u00e9 tipo de desalineamiento es el m\u00e1s cr\u00edtico.     posteriormente, se obtiene la expresi\u00f3n anal\u00edtica correspondiente al coeficiente de transmisi\u00f3n de potencia para rayos refractantes y rayos t\u00fanel.
