Y2 es capaz de degradar el estireno, un compuesto arom\u00e1tico de amplio uso industrial, hasta \u00e1cido fenilac\u00e9tico afa, que es despu\u00e9s catabolizado completamente. Estudios previos de nuestro grupo hab\u00edan conducido al aislamiento y caracterizaci\u00f3n de los genes sty, encargados de la conversi\u00f3n del estireno en afa.  en este trabajo se ha llevado a cabo el aislamiento y caracterizaci\u00f3n de los genes paa, implicados en la degradaci\u00f3n del afa hasta intermediarios del ciclo de krebs. Se han secuenciado dos regiones del genoma de pseudomonas ps.Y2 denominadas paa1 y paa2, con un tama\u00f1o de 20,5kb y 21,5 kb, respectivamente, que contienen dos conjuntos completos de genes capaces de catabolizar el afa. Se ha realizado un an\u00e1lisis, mediante diversos programas inform\u00e1ticos, de las secuencias de nucle\u00f3tidos obtenidas. La regi\u00f3n paa1 contiene un total de 18 genes, mientras que la paa2 contiene 21 genes, de los cuales cuatro no guardan relaci\u00f3n con el catabolismo del afa. tanto los genes paa1 como los paa2 son funcionales, pudiendo llevar a cabo la degradaci\u00f3n del afa de forma independiente, y se ha construido un pl\u00e1smido movilizable con los genes paa1, que proporciona a otras bacterias la capacidad de emplear afa como fuente de carbono y energ\u00eda. Pseudomonas sp. Y2 es capaz de degradar estireno, 2-feniletanol, 2,-feniletilamina y fenilacetaldeh\u00eddo tras convertir estos compuestos en afa, lo que confirma la existencia un an\u00e1lisis de la expresi\u00f3n de los genes  sty y paa bajo diversas condiciones, lo que ha permitido comprobar, entre otros datos, que el gen crc participa en la represi\u00f3n catab\u00f3lica de los genes sty por afa y pro medio
