Mxi2 es una isoforma de p38 que tiene la capacidad de unirse a erk1\/2 y regular su localizaci\u00f3n celular y su actividad. En este trabajo, demostramos que mxi2 tiene la capacidad de modificar la distribuci\u00f3n nucleocitopl\u00e1smica de erk1\/2, promoviendo su acumulaci\u00f3n en el n\u00facleo. La reducci\u00f3n de los niveles de expresi\u00f3n de mxi2 mediante rnas peque\u00f1os de interferencia o sirnas provoca un disminuci\u00f3n en los niveles de erk1\/2 en el n\u00facleo y una marcada disminuci\u00f3n en la proliferaci\u00f3n o sirnas provoca una disminuci\u00f3n en los niveles de erk1\/2 en el n\u00facleo y una marcada disminuci\u00f3n en la proliferaci\u00f3n celular. Este proceso requiere la interacci\u00f3n directa entre mxi2 y erk1\/2 y una alta afinidad de mxi2 por las nucleoporinas del por nuclear. En este respecto, mxi2 act\u00faa como un antagonista de pea15, desplazando a pea-15 de los complejos con erk1\/2. Nuestros resultados, muestra a mxi2 como una prote\u00edna nuclear reguladora de erk1\/2 que es capaz de importar a erk1\/2 al n\u00facleo independientemente de estimulaci\u00f3n
