Combinando t\u00e9cnicas de investigaci\u00f3n cuantitativas y cualitativas, en nuestro estudio revisamos la orientaci\u00f3n actual y los cambios que est\u00e1 experimentando la universidad como escenario espec\u00edfico y especializado de formaci\u00f3n, observando de que modo puede contribuir la incorporaci\u00f3n del aprendizaje a trav\u00e9s de entornos virtuales a mantener el liderazgo de las instituciones presenciales de educaci\u00f3n superior en la sociedad de la informaci\u00f3n.
