La estructura se describe como un entramado de cadenas de poliedros ao7\/ao8 que comparten aristas paralelas al eje a, con grupos dialuminatos\/digalatos interconectados las cadenas a trav\u00e9s de los v\u00e9rtices. Se han realizado dopajes en la posici\u00f3n tetra\u00e9drica, sitio m, con cationes tetravalentes (ge4+, ti4+, si4+) para conseguir composiciones con exceso de ox\u00edgeno de f\u00f3rmula general a4(m2-xbxo7+x\/2)1-x\/2)o2 (a=la, nd, sm, gd; m=al, ga; b=si, ge, ti, sn). Tambi\u00e9n se han sustituido los iones a3+ o m3+ por cationes divalentes son similares radios i\u00f3nicos (sr2+, ca2+ o mg2+), para conseguir compuestos deficientes en ox\u00edgeno, de f\u00f3rmula general la4-xcx(ga2o7)1)o2-x\/2 (c=sr, ca) o la serie la4(ga2-xmgxo7)1)o2-x\/x)x\/2.     la s\u00edntesis de los materiales se ha llevado a cabo por el m\u00e9todo cer\u00e1mico (1673 k, 48h), a excepci\u00f3n de la series nd4(al2-xmxo7+x\/x)o2 (m=si, ge, ti) que se prepararon pro el m\u00e9todo de precursor liofilizado debido a la inestabilidad de estas fases a alta temperatura. El an\u00e1lisis de difracci\u00f3n de rayos-x del laboratorio de polvo y de neutrones ha permitido obtener una buena descripci\u00f3n estructural y localizar la posici\u00f3n del oxigeno extra en las composiciones con exceso de ox\u00edgeno. El cambio estructural m\u00e1s significativo es la introducci\u00f3n de iones \u00f3xido en una posici\u00f3n vacante presente en la estructura junto con el vaciado de otras posiciones. La incorporaci\u00f3n de ox\u00edgeno  transforma los grupos di-tetra\u00e9dricos aislados en cadenas de bipir\u00e1mides trigonales que comparten v\u00e9rtices con un n\u00famero de interrupciones variables, dependiendo de la composici\u00f3n. Esta modificaci\u00f3n provoca que se nivelen dos distancias inicialmente diferentes entre s\u00ed, la existente en los grupos diagalatos\/dialuminatos y entre ellos,
