En la actualidad, el agotamiento de los bancos naturales ha convertido a los criaderos en la \u00fanica fuente de semilla aut\u00f3ctona, especialmente en lo que se refiere a ostra (ostrea edulis) y almejas (ruditapes decussatus, venerupis pullastra, y la especie al\u00f3ctona r. Philippinarum). Sin embargo, estas instalaciones se enfrentan a episodios de mortalidades masivas, derivados en muchas ocasiones de infecciones bacterianas, que dificultan la regularidad del suministro e implican p\u00e9rdidas econ\u00f3micas. El tratamiento del agua de los cultivos mediante diversos procedimientos f\u00edsico-qu\u00edmicos ha resultado insuficiente, conllevando adem\u00e1s problemas como la aparici\u00f3n de resistencias, el elevado coste econ\u00f3mico o la prohibici\u00f3n de su uso por la legislaci\u00f3n actual. Por ello en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os se buscan soluciones alternativas, entre las que destaca el uso de bacterias probi\u00f3ticas. en este trabajo hemos llevado a cabo un seguimiento de los problemas asociados a diferentes criaderos gallegos, que nos han permitido identificar de forma clara tres bacterias responsables de episodios de mortalidades larvarias. Los experimentos realizados demuestran que son capaces de causar graves mortalidades en cultivos larvarios de ostra plana dentro de las primeras 48 horas. En todos los casos han resultado ser bacterias pertenecientes al g\u00e9nero vibrio. El pat\u00f3geno 145.98 ha sido identificado como vibrio neptunius, siendo la primera descripci\u00f3n de esta especie como pat\u00f3gena. Sin embargo, la caracterizaci\u00f3n fenot\u00edpica y genot\u00edpica de los aislados 203 y 638 apunta a su descripci\u00f3n como nuevas especies dentro del g\u00e9nero. en la b\u00fasqueda de potenciales bacterias probi\u00f3ticas que facilitaran el control de las poblaciones de vibrios en los cultivos, se ensayaron en medio s\u00f3lido 520 aislados obtenidos de los diferentes
