Dichos geles se obtuvieron mediante la optimizaci\u00f3n de procesos de extracci\u00f3n y desmetilaci\u00f3n de pectinas de la pulpa de remolacha, un residuo de la industria azucarera. Se ha caracterizado el comportamiento en bioadsorci\u00f3n en discontinuo de cadmio, plomo, cobre y oro con diferentes biaadsorbentes (geles de alginato y de pectina con y sin alga inmovilizada, el alga marr\u00f3n fucus vesiculosus y la pulpa de remolacha) mediante modelos cin\u00e9ticos y el trazado de las isotermas ajustadas al modelo de langmuir, a partir del cual se obtuvieron las capacidades m\u00e1ximas de adsorci\u00f3n y la afinidad de los metales por los distintos materiales. se ha caracterizado la biomasa antes y despu\u00e9s de la bioadsorci\u00f3n mediante t\u00e9cnicas de espectroscopia de infrarrojo, microscopia electr\u00f3nica de barrido, microan\u00e1lisis elemental y difracci\u00f3n de rayos x.  en el caso del oro, se ha observado que la biomasa del alga no s\u00f3lo absorbe estemetal sino que tambi\u00e9n lo reduce, quedando en estado coloidal en la disoluci\u00f3n y precipitado sobre la biomasa.  se ha optimizado el proceso de adsorci\u00f3n en continuo de disoluciones monomet\u00e1licas y trimet\u00e1licas de cadmio, plomo y cobre con los geles de pectina con y sin biomasa, trazando las curvas de ruptura y calculando los respectivos par\u00e1metros. Se ha estudiado el proceso de deserci\u00f3n con \u00e1cidos de dichos metales y un sistema de regeneraci\u00f3n de la biomasa.  los geles de pectina adem\u00e1s de ser unos buenos soportes para la inmovilizaci\u00f3n de biomasa y para su utilizaci\u00f3n en procesos de bioadsorci\u00f3n en continuo, son en as\u00ed mismos buenos bioadsorbentes de cadmio, plomo y cobre. Finalmente se ha realizado nueve ciclos de adsorci\u00f3n-desorci\u00f3n-regeneraci\u00f3n de disoluciones trimet\u00e1licas en continuo con el alga inmovilizada en los geles de pectina.
