La raz\u00f3n est\u00e1 en los grandes beneficios que los modelos de gesti\u00f3n de inventarios pueden producir en la actividad  empresarial. este trabajo centra su atenci\u00f3n en el desarrollo de nuevos modelos deterministas de inventario en los que se permite la escasez o rotura del stock. La tesis est\u00e1 organizada como sigue. en el cap\u00edtulo 1 se presentan seis modelos eoq (economic order quantity) con situaciones extremas de escasez (demanda totalmente acumulable y p\u00e9rdida de ventas) y descuentos cuantitativos en el precio de compra (descuentos en todas las unidades y descuento incremental). Se determinan las pol\u00edticas \u00f3ptimas para cada uno de esos seis modelos y se realizan diferentes extensiones de los resultados obtenidos a otras situaciones, entre las que cabe destacar el caso conocido como composite lot size model. en el cap\u00edtulo 2 se estudian sistemas de inventario con rotura donde la fracci\u00f3n de demanda acumulable se describe mediante una funci\u00f3n que depende \u00fanicamente del tiempo que el cliente debe o deber\u00eda esperar hasta la llegada del siguiente pedido. Se desarrolla un enfoque general para resolver el problema de optimizaci\u00f3n formulado. Se determinan pol\u00edticas de inventario eficientes para diversas funciones de impaciencia y se realiza un an\u00e1lisis de sensibilidad respecto a varios de los par\u00e1metros considerados. finalmente, en el cap\u00edtulo 3 se introduce una nueva perspectiva conceptual para modelar el comportamiento de los clientes frente a la escasez.
