Los ppcps, que incluyen f\u00e1rmacos y productos de higiene personal, constituyen un grupo de substancias al que se ha dedicado poca atenci\u00f3n hasta hace relativamente poco tiempo. actualmente estos compuestos tambi\u00e9n se catalogan como contaminantes persistentes, dado que son introducidos en el medio de manera continua a nivel de ng-ug l-1 a escala mundial. La contaminaci\u00f3n del medio acu\u00e1tico en concreto es especialmente preocupante si se tiene en cuenta la importancia del ciclo del agua en la conservaci\u00f3n del planeta y delos seres que lo habitan. El riesgo y los posibles efectos derivados de estos contaminantes se encuentra actualmente en fase de estudio, y por el momento no se dispone de suficientes datos que permitan afirmar contundentemente cual es el peligro real. Hoy en d\u00eda, la estrategia seguida en el campo del tratamiento de aguas residuales conteniendo diversos contaminantes es la de combinar procedimientos sucesivos, introduciendo tecnolog\u00edas especiales que sean afectivos contra compuestos muy particulares. Por lo tanto, es necesario desarrollar m\u00e9todos m\u00e1s potentes y efectivos. Con esta intenci\u00f3n, varios procesos electroqu\u00edmicos que incluyen la oxidaci\u00f3n an\u00f3dica y los procesos electroqu\u00edmicos de oxidaci\u00f3n avanzada se presentan como una atractiva alternativa compatible con el medio ambiente, ya que la principal especie oxidante que interviene es el radical hidroxilo. As\u00ed se han realizado diferentes experimentos combinando varios \u00e1nodos y c\u00e1todos, y utilizando diferentes catalizadores.
