El tratamiento biol\u00f3gico de estas aguas requiere un proceso combinado de eliminaci\u00f3n de carbono y de nitr\u00f3geno. En este trabajo fue objeto de estudio la eliminaci\u00f3n biol\u00f3gica de compuestos monoarom\u00e1ticos, como son los alquilbencenos y fenol, en presencia de metales pesados. se llev\u00f3 a cabo un estudio del crecimiento y cin\u00e9tica de la degradaci\u00f3n de alquilbencenos con cepas de microorganismos puros y mixtos. Los par\u00e1metros cin\u00e9ticos y las velocidades de degradaci\u00f3n fueron calculados y comparados para los diferentes cultivos. A continuaci\u00f3n se llev\u00f3 a cabo la evaluaci\u00f3n de la influencia de la toxicidad e inhibici\u00f3n de los metales pesados (cd, ni, zn) sobre la degradaci\u00f3n de los alquilbencenos en presencia de las bacterias pseudomonas sp y bacillus sp. Se ha empleado la ecuaci\u00f3n de andrews para estudiar la cin\u00e9tica de degradaci\u00f3n del tolueno, etilbenceno y o-xileno en presencia de los metales pesados a diferentes concentraciones, calcul\u00e1ndose la constante de inhibici\u00f3n. la segunda parte del estudio se ha centrado en la biodegradaci\u00f3n del fenol mediante ensayos aerobios en discontinuo y en un reactor de lodos activos, analiz\u00e1ndose la influencia que \u00e9ste ejerce sobre el proceso de nitrificaci\u00f3n. Por \u00faltimo se evalu\u00f3 el an\u00e1lisis del tratamiento biol\u00f3gico aerobio de un agua residual sint\u00e9tica, cuya fuente de carbono empleada era tambien el fenol y en cuyo medio se encontraban presentes otros contaminantes altamente t\u00f3xicos para los microorganismos, como son los metales pesados. Se observ\u00f3 el comportamiento inhibidor que ejercen estos sobre la degradaci\u00f3n del fenol, as\u00ed como sobre el proceso de nitrificaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos
