Para ello, se ha seleccionado como excipiente el manitol y como procedimiento de microencapsulaci\u00f3n la t\u00e9cnica de atomizaci\u00f3n, optimizando las condiciones de este proceso para obtener microsferas con propiedades morfol\u00f3gicas y aerodin\u00e1micas adecuadas para su administraci\u00f3n por v\u00eda pulmonar. Para la preparaci\u00f3n de los sistemas complejos de l\u00edpidos y nanopart\u00edculas de quitosano, se han elegido dos l\u00edpidos end\u00f3genos del pulm\u00f3n, la dipalmitoilfosfatidilcolina (dppc) y el dimiristoilfosfatidilglicerol (dmpg), con carga neutra y negativa, respectivamente, y se ha comprobado que el recubrimiento lip\u00eddico de las nanopart\u00edculas es m\u00e1s eficaz cuando ambos fosfol\u00edpidos est\u00e1n presentes en la formulaci\u00f3n.  el an\u00e1lisis estructural de las microsferas conteniendo nanopart\u00edculas, ha demostrado que \u00e9stas se distribuyen uniformemente en la matriz de manitol. Utilizando la insulina y la alb\u00famina bovina marcada con isotiocianato de fluoresce\u00edna (fitc-bsa) como modelos, se ha evidenciado el potencial de ambos sistemas para asociar p\u00e9ptidos y prote\u00ednas. adem\u00e1s, se ha observado que el proceso de atomizaci\u00f3n no produce ning\u00fan efecto negativo sobre las propiedades de los sistemas encapsulados, ni en el perfil de liberaci\u00f3n de la insulina a partir de los mismos. Los estudios realizados con las microsferas conteniendo nanopart\u00edculas en dos l\u00edneas celulares del epitelio respiratorio (calu-3 y a549), han demostrado la biocompatibilidad del sistema, evidenciando adem\u00e1s fen\u00f3menos de mucoadhesi\u00f3n.
