El estudio m\u00e1s preciso de la localizaci\u00f3n de las mdgas muestra que se encuentran en unos microdomios de membrana denominados l\u00edpido rafts. adem\u00e1s, el estudio evolutivo de las prote\u00ednas mdgas refleja que se encuentran presentes en una amplia variedad de organismos, permaneciendo altamente conservadas en todas las especies analizadas en las que se conoce la secuencia completa de ambas prote\u00ednas.     por otro lado, los experimentos de adhesi\u00f3n y migraci\u00f3n celular realizados en c\u00e9lulas transfectadas de una manera estable con mdga1 demuestran que esta prote\u00edna incrementa la capacidad migratoria celular, as\u00ed como la adhesi\u00f3n c\u00e9lula-c\u00e9lula.     asimismo, se ha realizado la caracterizaci\u00f3n del gen mdga2 humano, as\u00ed como su analizado su expresi\u00f3n en tejidos adultos y fetales humanos mediante northem blot. Mdga2 presenta una tr\u00e1nscrito de alrededor de 5 kb expresado principalmente en h\u00edgado, coraz\u00f3n y m\u00fasculo esquel\u00e9tico humano, as\u00ed como en cerebro fetal, donde tambi\u00e9n presenta dos mensajeros de 7 y 9 kb.     finalmente, se ha analizado la expresi\u00f3n de ambos genes en patolog\u00edas tumorales humanas mediante pcr cuantitativa en tiempo real, encontr\u00e1ndose
