Se calcula que el consumo de agua en la agricultura representa del orden del 80% del consumo total, su optimizaci\u00f3n es un objetivo b\u00e1sico de las pol\u00edticas medioambientales en la actualidad.     esta tesis se inicia con un diagn\u00f3stico de los sistemas actuales de  gesti\u00f3n automatizada del riego. Se identifican problemas y funcionalidades b\u00e1sicas no cubiertas. Tras la definici\u00f3n conceptual del sistema \u00abideal\u00bb, se eval\u00faan las tecnolog\u00edas que permiten la integraci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica de la soluci\u00f3n. Se desarrollan elementos novedosos, no existentes en el mercado, para completar su funcionalidad.     la prueba piloto demuestra la factibilidad t\u00e9cnica. La viabilidad comercial se alcanza tras la reingenier\u00eda y el dise\u00f1o industrial en los proyectos de demostraci\u00f3n, obteni\u00e9ndose un sistema basado en las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas de la informaci\u00f3n y las comunicaciones que se adecua a las necesidades del regante.     este proyecto, apoyado por la red internacional de i+d orientada al mercado eureka, ha sido desarrollado
