En primer lugar examinamos el papel de colesterol en la apoptosis en c\u00e9lulas nih3t3, y los mecanismos implicados en este proceso. As\u00ed demostramos que la disminuci\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica de colesterol con suero libre de lipoprote\u00ednas (lpds) y 25- hidroxicolesterol  (25-hc) produce un significativo aumento de la apoptosis celular. Este efecto va acompa\u00f1ado de un aumento de la actividad de las tres principales prote\u00ednas mapks, erk,jnk y p38 mapk , as\u00ed como las gtpasas ras, rhoa y rac. Sin embargo, solo el inhibidor espec\u00edfico de p38mapk, el sb203580, o la sobre expresi\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna mkk6 sin actividad quinasa produce un significativo descenso de la apoptosis, adem\u00e1s, la sobre expresi\u00f3n del dominante negativo n19 rhoa inhibe la fosforilaci\u00f3n de p38 mapk y la opoptosis que produce el tratamiento con lpds m\u00e1s 25-hc, por lo que nosotros concluimos que la apoptosis inducida por bajos niveles de colesterol celular se produce a trav\u00e9s de la activaci\u00f3n de la v\u00eda rhoa\/mkk6\/p38 mapk. Por otro lado, demostramos que la disminuci\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica de colesterol produce un significativo aumento de la trascripci\u00f3n dependiente de nfkb. La degradaci\u00f3n de ikba, la translocaci\u00f3n al n\u00facleo de p65\/nfkb y la uni\u00f3n al adn de nfkb por un mecanismo dependiente de p38 mapk y que la adici\u00f3n de colesterol ex\u00f3geno revierte estos efectos y tambi\u00e9n observamos que la actividad de transactivaci\u00f3n de p65\/nfkb se incrementa por la disminuci\u00f3n del contenido de colesterol celular a trav\u00e9s de la v\u00eda p38 mapk\/msk1. \ta continuaci\u00f3n, examinamos el papel de la disminuci\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica del colesterol en la apoptosis en las c\u00e9lulas de c\u00e1ncer colorectal hct-116 (que contienen  v12ras ) y ht\u00c2\u00bf29 (que contienen  v600eb-raf) y el mecanismo implicado en este proceso. Nosotros encontramos que la disminuci\u00f3n de colesterol celular con el tratamiento con lpds y 25-hc produce un significativo aumento de la apoptosis inducida por la falta de colesterol a trav\u00e9s de un mecanismo independiente de la activaci\u00f3n de las prote\u00ednas erks. Adem\u00e1s, observamos que  v12ras protege la apoptosis a las c\u00e9lulas hct-116 a trav\u00e9s de la activaci\u00f3n constitutiva de la v\u00eda de pi3k\/akt, que bloquea la apoptosis inducida por
