Tambi\u00e9n hemos desarrollado una nueva t\u00e9cnica, basada en el modo confocal, que permite medir el espesor de las capas submicrom\u00e9tricas que se encuentran en muestras construidas a partir de la superposici\u00f3n de materiales disimilares. En la primera parte de la tesis, se presenta el dise\u00f1o detallado que hace posible tener en el mismo cabezal (i) imagen de campo claro, (ii) imagen confocal y perfilometr\u00eda 3d confocal y (iii) imagen interferom\u00e9trica y perfilometr\u00eda 3d interferom\u00e9trica (vsi y psi). La imagen de campo claro y la interferometr\u00eda requieren iluminaci\u00f3n extensa mientras que la imagen confocal requiere iluminaci\u00f3n local y barrido dentro del plano imagen. El n\u00facleo del nuevo perfil\u00f3metro es un cabezal compacto, que no tiene partes m\u00f3viles, y que es f\u00e1cil de alinear. El cabezal es aut\u00f3nomo y se puede fijar a cualquier soporte que garantice estabilidad mec\u00e1nica. Para la generaci\u00f3n de los diferentes patrones de iluminaci\u00f3n con alta eficiencia lum\u00ednica, se ha escogido un dispositivo electr\u00f3nico de generaci\u00f3n de im\u00e1genes tipo flcos. Todas las t\u00e9cnicas usan, como \u00fanica fuente de luz, un diodo emisor de luz (led) de alta potencia que emite luz azul. Hemos realizado un estudio de las prestaciones del sistema y un an\u00e1lisis de la influencia del dispositivo de barrido vertical. Tambi\u00e9n hemos examinado con detalle las aplicaciones de las diferentes t\u00e9cnicas perfilom\u00e9tricas y se presenta un estudio comparativo de aplicabilidad de la t\u00e9cnica confocal en relaci\u00f3n a las t\u00e9cnicas interferom\u00e9tricas, que pone de manifiesto laslimitaciones de cada t\u00e9cnica.
