Este es un hongo filamentoso cuyo metabolismo secundario esta orientado principalmente a la produccion de giberelinas (gas), fitohormonas que estimulan los procesos normales del crecimiento vegetal, siendo reguladores endogenos del crecimiento de las plantas. Se han estudiado las condiciones adecuadas de cultivo para la produccion de gas en la estirpe silvestre imi 58289, encontrandose que la velocidad de agitacion y la composicion del medio influyen en el tipo de gas obtenidas, mientras que la prolongacion del tiempo de cultivo solo afecta a la produccion total de metabolitos y no a su distribucion.  se pone a punto un metodo rapido de analisis (derivatizacion y cg\/em) de gas y otros metabolitos excretados por g. Fujikuroi. Se ha estudiado la produccion de gas y otros metabolitos en trece mutantes obtenidas por via quimica a partir de la estirpe silvestre imi 58289 de g. Fujikuroi. De acuerdo con los resultados se indica los lugares de bloqueo en la ruta biosintetica de gas. Y por ultimo, se estudia la biotransformacion de sustratos organicos de la ruta metabolica de gas por mutantes del hongo no productoras de dichos metabolitos, determinandose los bloqueos de la ruta en
