Tras su consumo, estos compuestos alcanzan los ecosistemas acu\u00e1ticos principalmente mediante su vertido formando parte de las aguas residuales urbanas e industriales. La presente tesis doctoral constituye una contribuci\u00f3n al estudio de la distribuci\u00f3n y de los procesos que rigen el comportamiento ambiental de los principales tensioactivos de tipo ani\u00f3nico y no i\u00f3nico en el medio ambiente. Se ha prestado una atenci\u00f3n particular a los sedimentos -marinos y continentales- por su singular  importancia al constituir el destino final para un gran porcentaje de esos compuestos xenobi\u00f3ticos. Alguno de los aspectos m\u00e1s novedosos recogidos en esta memoria incluyen: el desarrollo de una metodolog\u00eda capaz de aislar, identificar y cuantificar simult\u00e1neamente tanto los tensioactivos como sus metabolitos en diferentes matrices ambientales; la demostraci\u00f3n por primera vez y de manera inequ\u00edvoca de la degradaci\u00f3n anaerobia del las, el tensioactivos de mayor consumo a nivel mundial; el primer estudio realizado sobre la presencia, distribuci\u00f3n, transporte y reactividad de tensioactivos alif\u00e1ticos (aes y aeos) y la obtenci\u00f3n de registros hist\u00f3ricos de la contaminaci\u00f3n por tensioactivos, mediante el uso de radiois\u00f3topos y marcadores moleculares (tps), lo que permite conocer su comportamiento diagen\u00e9tico. Esta tesis constituye, en definitiva, el resumen del trabajo llevado a cabo durante seis a\u00f1os en el departamento de qu\u00edmica fisica de la universidad de c\u00e1diz y contiene doce art\u00edculos que han sido publicados, o est\u00e1n en fase de publicaci\u00f3n, en revistas cient\u00edficas de reconocido prestigio.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
