Pero este modelo de desarrollo desembocar\u00e1 m\u00e1s temprano que tarde en el agotamiento de los recursos f\u00f3siles, sin contar adem\u00e1s con la preocupaci\u00f3n de \u00edndole ecol\u00f3gica que existe en la actualidad relativa al uso de los derivados del petr\u00f3leo.     por ello existe en este momento una concienciaci\u00f3n a nivel mundial para desvincular el progreso de la humanidad de su dependencia del petr\u00f3leo, fomentando la investigaci\u00f3n en nuevas fuentes de energ\u00eda para potenciar las que sean m\u00e1s eficaces y limpias. Es en este marco en el que aparecen las pilas de combustible como generadoras limpias de energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica, dado que generan casi exclusivamente agua como subproducto de la reacci\u00f3n independientemente del combustible utilizado, present\u00e1ndose as\u00ed como una alternativa competente. en concreto, dentro de las pilas de combustible, las de membrana  polim\u00e9rica de intercambio prot\u00f3nico (pem) que nos ocupan, y que consisten b\u00e1sicamente en un ensamblaje electrodo-membrana -electrodo (lo que se denomina mea) amordazado entre dos placas bipolares de grafito, se perfilan principalmente para usos en aplicaciones m\u00f3viles (veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos) y en dispositivos port\u00e1tiles.     en este trabajo se pretende conseguir la puesta a punto, s\u00edntesis y caracterizaci\u00f3n de nuevos materiales polim\u00e9ricos, conductores prot\u00f3nicos y electr\u00f3nicos, de aplicaci\u00f3n en las pilas de combustible de intercambio prot\u00f3nico, alimentadas por hidr\u00f3geno \u00f3 por metanol directo.     en primer lugar abordamos el desarrollo de nuevos materiales para reemplazar el grafito como placa bipolar en pilas de combustible de membrana de intercambio prot\u00f3nico. El grafito, aunque es buen conductor electr\u00f3nico, ligero y su tendencia a la corrosi\u00f3n en las condiciones de funcionamiento de una pemfc es baja, resulta un material caro y dif\u00edcil de
