Nuestros datos demuestran que existe una relaci\u00f3n directa entre el contenido de colesterol celular y los niveles de expresi\u00f3n de estos genes.  \ten primer lugar, observamos que tanto el tratamiento con suero libre de lipoprote\u00ednas (lpds), como con el inhibidor de la s\u00edntesis de colesterol a partir de mevalonato, lovastatina, producen una disminuci\u00f3n significativa tanto del colesterol celular como de la proliferaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas pcc13, inducciones, adem\u00e1s a tiempos largos de tratamiento la apoptosis de estas c\u00e9lulas.   \tadem\u00e1s, demostramos que la disminuci\u00f3n del colesterol celular aumenta la expresi\u00f3n de nis, tg y pax-8, mientras que no modifica los niveles de ttf-1. \tpor otra parte, tambi\u00e9n hemos profundizado en el estudio del efecto sobre nis, demostrando que bajos niveles de colesterol celular potencian el efecto de la tsh. Adem\u00e1s, el aumento de la expresi\u00f3n de nis se produce a nivel transcripcional, dando lugar a una prote\u00edna funcional que se localiza en la membrana plasm\u00e1tica y con su capacidad de transportar yodo intacta.  \tpor ultimo, hemos analizado las posibles rutas de transducci\u00f3n de se\u00f1ales implicadas en este efecto, demostrando, que  de todas las rutas estudiadas la responsable del aumento de los niveles de expresi\u00f3n de nis en respuesta a la disminuci\u00f3n del contenido de colesterol celular, es el aumento de ampc intracelular, con la consecuente activaci\u00f3n de pka y fosforilaci\u00f3n de creb. En el caso de la lovastatina tambi\u00e9n demostramos que el aumento de la expresi\u00f3n de nis se debe ala inhibici\u00f3n de la fosforilaci\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna
