Utilizando estos promotores se ha conseguido reducir la expresi\u00f3n del gen esencial diviva, obteni\u00e9ndose cepas con morfolog\u00eda cocoide como consecuencia de una ausencia total de crecimiento polar. La falta de diviva en las cepas de expresi\u00f3n reducida de c. Glutamicum s\u00f3lo fue complementada por divivas de otros actinomicetos, pero no por prote\u00ednas diviva de bacillus subtilis o streptococcus pneumoniae. Las cepas de corinebacterias de expresi\u00f3n reducida tambi\u00e9n pudieron ser complementadas por prote\u00ednas diviva quimera que presentaban un dominio de diviva de b. Subtilis, a pesar de las diferencias de tama\u00f1o entre las respectivas regiones coiled-coil. Los cambios en la expresi\u00f3n del gen diviva conduc\u00edan a una segregaci\u00f3n aberrante del cromosoma, aunque la prote\u00edna diviva no parec\u00eda estar directamente implicada en este proceso ya que se localizaba en el septo de divisi\u00f3n una vez iniciada la bios\u00edntesis de peptidoglicano y cuando los nucleoides se encontraban totalmente segregados. Adem\u00e1s, se ha observado que en c. Glutamicum la localizaci\u00f3n de ftsz en el septo de divisi\u00f3n no est\u00e1 regulada por el sistema de oclusi\u00f3n por nucleoide o por cualquier otro regulador temporal o espacial conocido. Finalmente, como aplicaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1ctica de los resultados obtenidos, se ha utilizado el gen diviva como diana de amplificaci\u00f3n por pcr con objeto de identificar corinebacterias
