En este \u00faltimo caso, las reacciones fotoqu\u00edmicas est\u00e1n iniciadas por el ataque sobre los covs del radical oh durante el d\u00eda, del radical no3 durante la noche, del ozono tanto por el d\u00eda como por la noche y de los \u00e1tomos de cl los cuales juegan un papel importante a escala local en zonas mar\u00edtimas y costeras durante el d\u00eda. los aldeh\u00eddos son compuestos muy importantes en la qu\u00edmica de la atm\u00f3sfera. Son emitidos como contaminantes primarios procedentes de la combusti\u00f3n incompleta de carburantes f\u00f3siles o de emisiones biog\u00e9nicas, o como contaminantes secundarios procedentes de reacciones previas que tienen lugar en la atm\u00f3sfera. La mayor\u00eda de ellos son intermedios obligados de la fotooxidaci\u00f3n de la mayor parte de los compuestos org\u00e1nicos de la atm\u00f3sfera. Se han medido concentraciones elevadas de estos compuestos en \u00e1reas contaminadas como consecuencia de emsiones antropog\u00e9nicas como el tr\u00e1fico rodado o la actividad industrial. A todo esto hay que a\u00f1adir el hecho de que algunos aldeh\u00eddos son ya t\u00f3xicos en s\u00ed mismos produciendo irritaci\u00f3n en ojos y pulmones. Adem\u00e1s, algunos de los compuestos secundarios formados a partir de los aldeh\u00eddos, especialmente los nitrato de peroxiacilo, pans, son mucho mas peligrosos ya que son fitot\u00f3xicos, mut\u00e1genos, constituyen una fuente de nox en la troposfera y contribuyen a la formaci\u00f3n de o3 y por tanto al smog fotoqu\u00edmico. as\u00ed en esta tesis se ha estudiado la oxidaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica de diferentes aldeh\u00eddos saturados e insaturados con radical nitrato.
