Este programa est\u00e1 siendo financiado por el ministerio de ciencia y tecnolog\u00eda (proyecto ctq2004-07350-c02-01) y la consejer\u00eda de ciencia y tecnolog\u00eda de la junta de comunidades de castilla-la mancha (proyecto pbi-05-038). los \u00f3xidos de nitr\u00f3geno son importantes contaminantes que originan problemas medioambientales, tales como el efecto invernadero, el smog fotoqu\u00edmico, la lluvia \u00e1cida, etc., Problemas agravados por el aumento progresivo de las emisiones de nox debido a la actividad humana. La principal fuente antropog\u00e9nica de nox es el transporte que, s\u00f3lo en europa, es el responsable de aproximadamente la mitad de las emisiones. Debido a esto cada vez las emisiones de nox est\u00e1n sometidas a restricciones legales m\u00e1s severas como la nueva normativa \u00abeuro 5\u00bb que entrar\u00e1 en vigor el pr\u00f3ximo 2008. Han sido muchas las tecnolog\u00edas desarrolladas con el fin de reducir dichas emisiones, destacando entre ellas, la reducci\u00f3n catal\u00edtica selectiva (scr) utilizando como agentes reductores amoniaco, urea o hidrocarburos. La principal ventaja de esta tecnolog\u00eda frente a m\u00e9todos de reducci\u00f3n no catal\u00edtica es que resulta eficaz a temperaturas de trabajo inferiores. desde el descubrimiento en 1986 de las propiedades catal\u00edticas de las zeolitas intercambiadas con cobre en la descomposici\u00f3n de \u00f3xidos de nitr\u00f3geno, empleando hidrocarburos como reductores en presencia de ox\u00edgeno, el elevado n\u00famero de trabajos publicados ha mostrado el alto inter\u00e9s de este tema de investigaci\u00f3n y la necesidad de profundizar en el mismo.
