Esta sustancia provoca una r\u00e1pida respuesta apopt\u00f3tica en c\u00e9lulas leuc\u00e9micas, mientras que en c\u00e9lulas procedentes de tumores s\u00f3lidos induce una muerte celular m\u00e1s lenta que es precedida por la parada de las c\u00e9lulas en la fase g2\/m del ciclo celular. Hemos encontrado que la disparidad de respuestas desencadenadas por la edelfosina en c\u00e9lulas leuc\u00e9micas versus c\u00e9lulas derivadas de tumores s\u00f3lidos es consecuencia de una localizaci\u00f3n subcelular diferente del compuesto, la cual provoca la activaci\u00f3n de cascadas de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n apopt\u00f3ticas distintas a trav\u00e9s del disparo de se\u00f1ales moleculares espec\u00edficas desde esas estructuras subcelulares. En c\u00e9lulas leuc\u00e9micas, la edelfosina se concentra en los l\u00edpidos rafts de la membrana plasm\u00e1tica e induce una muerte celular mediada por el receptor de muerte fas\/cd95 y la chaperona molecular hsp90; mientras que en c\u00e9lulas derivadas de tumores s\u00f3lidos, la edelfosina se acumula en el ret\u00edculo endoplasm\u00e1tico y perturba las tres principales funciones de este org\u00e1nulo celular (s\u00edntesis de fosfol\u00edpidos, s\u00edntesis de prote\u00ednas y homeostasis de calcio) conduciendo en \u00faltimo t\u00e9rmino a una muerte celular mediada por
