Tomando como punto de partida el oxido de vanadio, que es el oxido con mayor potencial para el desarrollo de un catalizador efectivo para la reaccion en estudio, se realizo un estudio secuencial estudiando el efecto de la calcinacion; el sistema soportado sobre anatasa, los soportes mixtos tio2- sio2 y los catalizadores soportados sobre ellos, y por ultimo, el empleo de aditivos para mejora de la selectividad. En paralelo al estudio de la actividad catalitica se han usado las tecnicas de difraccion de rayos x, espectroscopia fotoelectronica xps, espectroscopia laser raman, reduccion termoprogramada, etc.,
