La filosofia es entendida como tecnica de la salud humana individual y politica, lo que lleva al autor a un analisis de la techne y de la medicina como tecnica ejemplar -del mismo modo se analizan las condiciones y requisitos de la conversacion filosofica como lengua propia de la filosofia.  la rectitud de vida es estudiada como salud del alma y estudio de las condiciones que la favorecen asi como de su contraria, la enfermedad y las situaciones politicas que la facilitan. Se analizan, igualmente, la argumentacion que hacen racionalmente preferible una vida de salud a otra de enfermedad, mientras que, a proposito del relato escatologico, que cierra el dialogo, se
