La respuesta a los principales factores de desarrollo, vernalizaci\u00f3n y fotoperiodo, medidos en invernadero, tuvo muy escaso efecto en la determinaci\u00f3n de la fecha de floraci\u00f3n en campo, dado que en siembras de oto\u00f1o se saturan los requerimientos de todas las l\u00edneas. Las l\u00edneas de menor talla mostraron un fuerte retraso de la floraci\u00f3n que perjudic\u00f3 gravemente su rendimiento. Todas las l\u00edneas obtenidas fueron sensibles a la aplicaci\u00f3n de giberelina ex\u00f3gena. Se propone que para reducir la talla de cebada en ambientes con riesgo de sequ\u00eda terminal, los genes de enanismo que se utilicen no produzcan retraso de la floraci\u00f3n o, si lo presentan como el gen sdw1 procedente de nevada, se asocien con genes de precocidad.
