Se exploran las cualidades historicas, teoricas y tecnicas, propias de este medio de expresion y comunicacion visual, desde 1839 hasta nuestros dias. Se propone un modelo de analisis global y abierto del fotomontaje en cinco capitulos y dos apendices, que son: i. Historia del fotomontaje; ii. Fotomontaje espa\u00f1ol; iii. Teoria del fotomontaje; iv. Fotomontaje digital; v. Metodos y creacion del fotomontaje; apendice 1: fotomontaje de apropiacion y derechos de autor:   copyright; apendice 2:  entrevistas a fotomontadores espa\u00f1oles. Se incluye ademas, un corpus de analisis de mas de 230 fotomontajes.  el fotomontaje es una sintesis visual de tipo psicofisiologica, epistemologica y estetica, que permite reunir las cualidades expresivas de la representacion poetica y retorica de la imagen visual en un sistema semiotico de comunicacion de signos indicales, iconicos y\/o simbolicos, de naturaleza foto-grafica, plastica,
