Para ello se recogieron quince muestras de sedimentos superficiales localizados en el \u00e1rea de la confluencia del oc\u00e9ano atl\u00e1ntico y el mar mediterr\u00e1neo, entre las desembocaduras de los r\u00edos guadiana y tinto-odiel. El inter\u00e9s principal de la zona de estudio viene determinado por sus caracter\u00edsticas particulares como regi\u00f3n costera sometida a la influencia de sistemas fluviales, que recibe importantes aportes de material tanto marino como terrestre y que, junto con las elevadas tasas de sedimentaci\u00f3n t\u00edpicas de las \u00e1reas de plataforma, favorecen la r\u00e1pida acumulaci\u00f3n y la preservaci\u00f3n de la materia org\u00e1nica sedimentaria. en este contexto, se ha llevado a cabo un an\u00e1lisis combinado de indicadores elementales, isot\u00f3picos y moleculares, mediante la aplicaci\u00f3n de t\u00e9cnicas degradativas, espectrosc\u00f3picas y cromatogr\u00e1ficas, con el objetivo de: determinar la composici\u00f3n geoqu\u00edmica y estructural de los sedimentos; evaluar el contenido y distribuci\u00f3n espacial de los elementos mayoritarios y los metales pesados en relaci\u00f3n con potenciales fuentes de contaminaci\u00f3n de la zona; contribuir a la caracterizaci\u00f3n de la fracci\u00f3n org\u00e1nica m\u00e1s refractaria (black carbon) y evaluar la procedencia de los materiales sedimentarios y la influencia continental en el medio costero. los resultados obtenidos revelan una intervenci\u00f3n mixta de contribuciones biog\u00e9nicas variadas, con predominante aporte marino (algas, plancton y bacterias) en general e importantes entradas de material terr\u00edgeno (fundamentalmente derivado de tejidos no le\u00f1osos de angiospermas) en los sedimentos m\u00e1s pr\u00f3ximos al continente.
