C\u00f3mo los organismos ecuariotas adquieren el molibdeno del exterior es desconocido. en este trabajo de tesis doctoral se ha identificado en el alga verde unicelular el primer transportador de molibdato de eucariotas. este transportador est\u00e1 codificado pro el gen mot1 y comparte regiones conservadas en su secuencia de amino\u00e1cidos con otras prote\u00ednas de bacterias, hongos, algas y planas que probablemente est\u00e1n implicas en el transporte de molibdato y que definen una nueva familia prote\u00ednas que hemos llamado mot1.      el cofactor de molibdeno es muy l\u00e1bil a la oxidaci\u00f3n, en chlamydomonas la prote\u00edna portadora del cofactor de molibdeno (mcp) tiene la funci\u00f3n de almacenar, proteger y transferir el cofactor de molibdeno. Es este trabajo se ha determinado la especificidad de uni\u00f3n del cofactor de molibdeno frente a molibdopterina (cofactor sin metal) a la mcp.
