Esta caracter\u00edstica metab\u00f3lica queda reflejada en la larga y sostenida hiperglicemia postprandial que se observa cuando los peces carn\u00edvoros se alimentan con dietas ricas en carbohidratos o seles suministra glucosa.     uno de los principales objetivos para incrementar la producci\u00f3n de peces en cultivo es mejorar la utilizaci\u00f3n de carbohidratos, ya que dietas de alto contenido en prote\u00edna incrementan el coste de producci\u00f3n  y conducen a problemas ecol\u00f3gicos.     el perfil metab\u00f3lico de los peces al ser alimentadas con dietas con alto contenido en carbohidratos, refleja un comportamiento similar al observado en ratas diab\u00e9ticas. La intolerancia relativa a la glucosa convierte a los peces carn\u00edvoros en un nuevo modelo para el estudio de la diabetes tipo 2.     la enzima glucoquinasa (gck) es esencial para el mantenimiento de la homeostasis de la glucosa. La gck participa en la primera reacci\u00f3n de la gluc\u00f3lisis fosforilando la glucosa, regulando as\u00ed uno de los ciclos clave de la gluc\u00f3lisis\/gluconeog\u00e9nesis. una de las hip\u00f3tesis que se hab\u00eda sugerido para explicar la baja utilizaci\u00f3n de la glucosa por los peces carn\u00edvoros era la ausencia de gck en peces. Estudios recientes han permitido demostrar su existencia y demostrar que la expresi\u00f3n de gck en peces est\u00e1 regulada en funci\u00f3n de las condicones nutricionales.     en este contexto, y para profundizar en el conocimiento de las bases moleculares que regulan el metabolismo de carbohidratos en peces carn\u00edvoros en esta tesis se presenta el estudio de la regulaci\u00f3n del gen gck en h\u00edgado de dorada (sparus aurata). Espec\u00edficamente, se ha clonado y caracterizado el promotor de este gen.
