Los conocimientos de estructura, distribuci\u00f3n y funci\u00f3n de las integrinas y tetraspaninas en animales dom\u00e9sticos son muy reducidos. por esta raz\u00f3n, se ha llevado el estudio de la subunidad av de la integrinas y la tetraspanina cd9 en el cerdo, una especie de animal de gran inter\u00e9s econ\u00f3mico y un excelente modelo experimental. los objetivos planteados han sido:     1,- caracterizaci\u00f3n molecular de los genes que codifican para ambas mol\u00e9culas y aproximaci\u00f3n al estudio de su funci\u00f3n.     2,- su localizaci\u00f3n cromos\u00f3mica.     3,- estudio de la distribuci\u00f3n tisular de ambas prote\u00ednas mediante t\u00e9cnicas inmunohistoqu\u00edmicas y moleculares.     la caracterizaci\u00f3n revel\u00f3 que se trata de mol\u00e9culas transmembranarias con un elevado nivel de conservaci\u00f3n con sus ort\u00f3logas en otras especies, tanto estructural como en los dominios funcionales. En el procedimiento de localizaci\u00f3n cromos\u00f3mica se obtuvo que el gen cd51 mapea en el cromosoma 15 porcino y el cd9 en el cromosoma 5, resultados en concordancia con el mapeo comparativo entre los genomas humano y porcino. los resultados del estudio de la variabilidad expresada en las secuencias codificantes de ambos genes han puesto de manifiesto un reducido nivel de polimorfismo, al menos en los animales analizados. As\u00ed, \u00fanicamente fueron caracterizados dos snps en cd9. Sin embargo, los resultados de caracterizaci\u00f3n del gen cd51 sugieren la existencia de isoformas de esta prote\u00edna en la especie porcina. El estudio de expresi\u00f3n tisular se realiz\u00f3 a nivel de arnm y de prote\u00edna.  en estos estudios se puso de manifiesto que ambas mol\u00e9culas se expresan principalmente en c\u00e9lulas
