Los mismos incorporan las bases nucleicas de timina, de adenina y citosina a un residuo alfa-amino\u00e1cido ciclobut\u00e1nico derivado del pineno. Por otra parte, se ha realizado la s\u00edntesis de beta-olig\u00f3meros compuestos de una unidad monom\u00e9rica ciclobut\u00e1nica. Concretamente un tr\u00edmero, un tetr\u00e1mero y un oct\u00e1mero.  Sobre dichos compuestos se ha realizado un extenso estudio estructural en soluci\u00f3n bas\u00e1ndose en la resonancia magn\u00e9tica nuclear de prot\u00f3n. Tambi\u00e9n se  -p\u00e9ptido ha realizado un estudio estructural te\u00f3rico para racionalizar los resultados experimentales. A partir de estos estudios, se ha conclu\u00eddo que la unidad ciclobut\u00e1nica es fuertemente inductora de estructuras secundarias, ya que se ha encontrado que tanto el tr\u00edmero como el tetr\u00e1mero adoptan una conformaci\u00f3n tipo cinta no polar. En otro orden de cosas, se ha realizado un estudio supramolecular basado en la microscop\u00eda electr\u00f3nica de transmisi\u00f3n y en la microscop\u00eda de fuerzas at\u00f3micas, mediante los cuales se ha observado que el beta-tetr\u00e1mero se autoagrega en forma de fibrilas nanom\u00e9tricas homogeneas y el beta-oct\u00e1mero lo hace formando miscelas o ves\u00edculas de tama\u00f1os variables.
