Xv en \u00e1vila se centra en el estudio de la pintura y escultura en \u00e1vila en relaci\u00f3n con su tiempo y lugar, procurando, en la medida de lo posible, ofrecer un mejor conocimiento de la producci\u00f3n art\u00edstica al calor de la sociedad que la vio nacer. De ah\u00ed que los primeros cap\u00edtulos del trabajo est\u00e9n dedicados a cuestiones de \u00edndole general como la funci\u00f3n y recepci\u00f3n de las artes pl\u00e1sticas en el s. Xv, comitentes, iconograf\u00eda, estilo&#8230;Para despu\u00e9s analizar los diferentes aspectos de la realidad abulense contextualiz\u00e1ndolo en el \u00e1mbito nacional e internacional.  la vinculaci\u00f3n de las obras a una personalidad y espacio concretos obliga a analizarlas como partes integrantes de un conjunto; por ello, la divisi\u00f3n de los cap\u00edtulos por localidades y edificios quedaba obsoleta bajo nuestro punto de vista. As\u00ed, aquellas obras de origen desconocido pero asociadas a un artista o taller concreto han sido analizadas dentro de la trayectoria del mismo, mientras que las pinturas y esculturas que forman parte de un conjunto, con unas funciones y usos bien delimitados, han sido estudiadas como partes indisociables de un mismo complejo. Es el caso del convento de santo tom\u00e1s de \u00e1vila.  El peso del ide\u00f3logo del programa global, fray tom\u00e1s de torquemada, su significaci\u00f3n dentro del contexto social y religioso de la \u00e9poca, la intervenci\u00f3n de distintos artistas colaborando en la conformaci\u00f3n de un mismo mensaje, nos ha llevado a estudiarlo en un cap\u00edtulo \u00fanico.
