Se propone un modelo te\u00f3rico para los mismos y se llevan a cabo simulaciones con el modelo. Los cables el\u00e9ctricos se modelan como estructuras viscoel\u00e1sticas cil\u00edndricas, con n\u00facleo de cobre y cubierta de pl\u00e1stico. Para resolver num\u00e9ricamente el modelo te\u00f3rico se propone un algoritmo h\u00edbrido, con el objetivo de incrementar la robustez. Tanto el modelo te\u00f3rico como los algoritmos num\u00e9ricos se validan en la tesis, en dos grandes bloques: validaci\u00f3n de las herramientas de simulaci\u00f3n y validaci\u00f3n experimental. Experimentalmente se ha validado con dos t\u00e9cnicas complementarias, con medidas electromagn\u00e9ticas procedentes de los piezoel\u00e9ctricos, y con ensayos de interferometr\u00eda. Se observa gran similitud entre los resultados de las simulaciones y los ensayos experimentales. Adem\u00e1s, se ha encontrado un hecho curioso. En los cables el\u00e9ctricos sin pl\u00e1stico aislante la atenuaci\u00f3n aumenta como es habitual con la frecuencia. Sin embargo, en los cables el\u00e9ctricos con pl\u00e1stico aislante se observa que los modos de propagaci\u00f3n superiores son los que tienen menor atenuaci\u00f3n. Para intentar explicar este fen\u00f3meno se ha planteado una hip\u00f3tesis: los modos de propagaci\u00f3n de mayor frecuencia tienden a propagarse principalmente por el cobre, por lo que su atenuaci\u00f3n disminuye.
