El an\u00e1lisis se centra en dos momentos clave: el siglo xvi momento de transformaciones profundas en la sociedad europea; y la segunda mitad del siglo xviii, cuando la crisis del antiguo r\u00e9gimen trastoc\u00f3 los modelos socioculturales creando nuevos espacios de sociabilidad. La metodolog\u00eda seguida se ha basado en el examen de la vivencia de las nuevas pautas de comportamiento a trav\u00e9s del examen de la documentaci\u00f3n de \u00e9poca. El \u00e1rea geogr\u00e1fica objeto de estudio ha sido el territorio de navarra entre 1492 y 1799. Como lugar de frontera, nos ha parecido un escenario m\u00e1s que apropiado para contemplar los cambios en las maneras de pensar y de comportarse de unas \u00e9lites en pleno proceso de reconversi\u00f3n desde una estructura banderiza a un grupo de poder consolidado. Los resultados obtenidos por la investigaci\u00f3n apuntan hacia una nobleza socialmente fundamentada en su especial condici\u00f3n jur\u00eddica como grupo privilegiado. Esta \u00e9lite desempe\u00f1\u00f3 un importante papel social izador y conciliador. Podemos decir que tuvo un car\u00e1cter paternal, no feudal, por lo que el r\u00e9gimen se\u00f1orial alcanz\u00f3 una escasa extensi\u00f3n y ninguna dureza. Sus intereses no eran los propios de un bando sino individuales y muy personales. Algunos de sus miembros intentaron prosperar en la corte y otros s\u00f3lo intentaron acrecentar su patrimonio y defender las preeminencias heredadas. Sin embargo, todos ellos consiguieron hacer evolucionar la figura pol\u00edtica y cultural de navarra integr\u00e1ndola en un nuevo marco europeo, renovado y transformador a su
