Heterophyllum, p.Pilliraneum y p.Rusbyi, recolectadas en las regiones del alto beni (prov. Abel iturralde) e irupana (prov. Sud yungas) del departamento de la paz, bolivia. los extractos etan\u00f3licos de las hojas de las especies de piper fueron resuspendidos en agua y extra\u00eddos con diclorometano y ambas fracciones fueron evaluadas para determinar su actividad leishmanicida. Las fracciones org\u00e1nicas de las siete especies estudiadas presentaron alg\u00fan grado de actividad (c150 menor 100 mg\/ml) frente a tres cepas de leishmania: l.Braziliensis, l.Amazonensis y l.Donavani, evaluadas en un modelo in vitro. los metabolitos aislados de las siete especies de piper estudiadas se agruparon para su estudio de acuerdo a sus caracter\u00edsticas estructurales en: kavalactonas, flavonoides, derivados del \u00e1cido benzoico, benzopiranos, benzofuranos, fenil propanoides, terpenos, apocarotenoides y amidas. As\u00ed, se aislan ochenta y tres metabolitos de las siete especies del g\u00e9nero piper estudiadas, de las cuales treinta y tres resultaron nuevas en la bibliograf\u00eda qu\u00edmica, siendo doce de ellas derivados del \u00e1cido benzoico y diecisiete derivados ciclados con estructuras de benzopirano, lo que representa el ochenta y ocho por ciento del total de las estructuras nuevas. los metabolitos aislados se evaluaron frente a las tres cepas de leishmania en un modelo in vitro. La flavokavaina b, la 2.6.4-trihidroxi-4-metoxi-dihidrochalcona y la 5.7-dihidroxi-flavanona resultaron m\u00e1s activos, frente a las tres l\u00edneas de leishmania ensayadas, que la pentamidina, utilizada como control (cl50 10 mg\/ml), resultando la flavokavaina b del orden de 3 veces m\u00e1s potente (cl50 3.2 mg\/ml).
