El cobalto  se ha establecido como el ligante met\u00e1lico m\u00e1s utilizado como matriz de fases duras, debido a su buena mojabilidad sobre materiales como el wc y el tic. Las investigaciones encaminadas a sustituirlo por ligantes m\u00e1s baratos, abundantes en la naturaleza y que proporcionen mayor tenacidad, se ha enfocado en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os en aleaciones basadas en fe y ni. Este es motivo por el cual se ha seleccionado el fe como matriz met\u00e1lica para la obtenci\u00f3n de nuevos materiales tipo cermet. El principal objetivo de este trabajo es el desarrollo de nuevos materiales compuestos de matriz fe, o aleaciones base fe con refuerzo cer\u00e1mico. La finalidad es alcanzar prestaciones comparables a las de los actuales cermets base co\/ni. En este estudio el sistema elegido ha sido fe-ticn. A la hora de dise\u00f1ar la ruta de procesado se opt\u00f3 por la metalurgia de polvos. Para la obtenci\u00f3n del polvo compuesto se realizaron  tanto mezcla  convencional como molienda de alta energ\u00eda (mae) y los distintos compactos fueron sinterizados  en vacio y atmosfera industrial a temperaturas comprendidas entre 1350-1450\u00c2\u00bac. Tras la sinterizaci\u00f3n se realizaron tratamientos t\u00e9rmicos y se determinaron diversas propiedades mec\u00e1nicas (dureza, tenacidad, resistencia a flexi\u00f3n).
