Esto se debe a que este tipo de tecnolog\u00eda permite la producci\u00f3n y liberaci\u00f3n continua, por parte de las c\u00e9lulas encapsuladas, de mol\u00e9culas con potencial terap\u00e9utico para el tratamiento de la enfermedad. el objetivo de esta tesis es desarrollar un sistema de microencapsulaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas vivas para su posible utilizaci\u00f3n en el tratamiento de parkinson. Se ha realizado una profunda caracterizaci\u00f3n de los biopol\u00edmeros que conforman tanto la matriz como la membrana semipermeable con el fin de seleccionar aquellos materiales que proporcionen a estos sistemas de inmovilizaci\u00f3n celular unas \u00f3ptimas propiedades de estabilidad mec\u00e1nica y biocompatibilidad. Tras la caracterizaci\u00f3n tecnol\u00f3gica y biol\u00f3gica de las microc\u00e1psulas se procedi\u00f3 a encapsular fibroblastos fischer 3t3 transfectados gen\u00e9ticamente para producir el factor neurotr\u00f3pico derivado de la glia (gdnf) y se implantaron en el estriado de un modelo de rata parkinsoniana. Los resultados obtenidos sugieren que la aplicaci\u00f3n de esta terapia neuroprotectora para la enfermedad de parkinson podr\u00eda retardar o prevenir la degeneraci\u00f3n de las neuronas
